Chloe Fineman has announced that she will leave “Saturday Night Live” after seven seasons. In an Instagram post published Thursday, the comedian said departing the program was difficult but felt like the right time.
Fineman said working on the show had been the greatest privilege of her life and described its staff as family. Reflecting on the process of making sketches, she wrote that cast members can become intensely invested in material that may later seem inconsequential, but said that commitment is part of the program’s culture.
Fineman joined “SNL” at the beginning of the 2019-20 season. During her tenure, she became known for impressions including Jennifer Coolidge, Drew Barrymore, Britney Spears, Timothée Chalamet and JoJo Siwa.
Her departure comes during the show’s summer hiatus ahead of Season 52. It follows cast changes last year that included the exits of Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Devon Walker, Emil Wakim and Michael Longfellow. The Los Angeles Times also reported, citing Deadline, that Fineman is in talks to join the Netflix sports-drama series “Myron Bolitar”; no final casting decision was confirmed in the report.
