Astronomers have found that supermassive black holes might be responsible for the low star formation rates in some of the universe’s largest galaxies. By studying NGC 4151 with NASA- and JAXA-supported XRISM, researchers discovered powerful winds from black holes that could impede the formation of new stars by dispersing vital raw materials.
